Buy or lease an electric commercial vehicle: compare costs
Compare purchase, finance lease and operating lease over the same term and mileage. Look beyond monthly payments: deposits, maintenance, insurance, excess mileage and residual risk determine actual costs.
Compare the options
| Owner | Residual-value risk | Grant | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy | You | You | AanZET or MIA, plus KIA |
| Finance lease | You, as economic owner | You | AanZET or MIA, plus KIA |
| Operating lease | Leasing company | Leasing company | AanZET via the leasing company, no MIA or KIA |
Operating lease can be attractive while the used electric-vehicle market develops: the lessor carries residual-value risk.
A finance lease is the most common form for trucks: you spread the payment, with a balloon payment at the end, and keep the grant yourself. With a finance lease you pay VAT on the full price at the start; with an operating lease monthly. In the calculator, choose how you pay under Purchase: your own money or a finance lease, and an operating lease per side. You also see up to which lease price an operating lease beats a finance lease.
Compare quotes on consistent assumptions
Check what the rate includes and what you pay separately. Confirm the balloon payment, return conditions, charging provision and replacement transport. Include grants only when the applicant and treatment in your contract are clear.
